I listened closely to comments being made by the various Leaders of Tents in St. Lucia whom appeared on the Radio St. Lucia program the agenda.  Their various comments we’re all the same No Sponsors, No Money, No Support, Not sure about future of Tents this year.

Yet still at the end of the show  when asked a general question by the Chairman, ” Are We Ready For Carnival and Calypso this Year” they all brought the question home so to speak and answered in relation to themselves “Yes We Are” although they all claimed the lack of the above..

It is therefore my right now to publically put some questions out to you  and hope to get some general answers or comments.

“ARE WE READY FOR ST.LUCIA CARNIVAL AND CALYPSO 2010, WHEN…”

  • Carnival gets only $500,000.00 to run a 2 million dollar event?
  • Sponsors put more money into Jazz than Carnival?
  • Calypso Tents have to pay for lights to be temporarily installed in the parking lot of the National Cultural Centre Ground to protect patrons.
  • We start Carnival and still cannot confirm use of venues?
  • For the first time there will be no Pan Competition?
  • Broadcast rights for Cable and Internet is given to one media House?

I think we all can agree that Carnival is a National Event. One would think that such an event would be given full support by Government, the Private Sector and of course citizens of St. Lucia.

As far as I am concerned there is no profit to be made by anyone from Carnival. We all just provide a service.
