Scruffy TV is Live for Carnival..But!…

Ok, folks this is it. For all those who have been calling and sending e-mail ‘s with regards to whether Scruffy TV via www.stluciacarnival.net would be providing live coverage of St. Lucia Carnival as promised, it has officially been outlined to all interested broadcasters for Carnival by the Cultural Development Foundation.

At a meeting this morning at the Cultural Development Foundation head quarters Barnard Hill, a number of interested persons responsible for live broadcasting of St. Lucia  Carnival meet to discuss matters in relation to who can do what.

Present we’re Mr. Kennedy “Boots Samuel – CDF Director, Mrs Joan Small-CDF Administrative  Manager, Mr. Denis Springer -DIS of Government Information Services, Mr. Germaine Anius- Party Access, Mr. Mc Norton Maclean-Luciancarnival.com, Mr .Wayne Whitfield & Luciana Fevrier of Choice TV and Greggar Deterville of Carpet Media SLU owners of Scruffy TV.

The discussions we’re very cordial and Mr Samuels outlined the CDF’s position as to granting broadcast rights to Choice TV. He expressed the fact that the CDF was going into this arrangement this year as an experiment of control and revenue generation . He mentioned that persons in the past have expressed disgust in the type of display from revellers on the road and that there needed to be some sort of control as to the content that was broadcasted via the media.  He also expressed the fact that there were issues with coverage provided by the National Television Network in the past.

Choice TV being granted the rights for live broadcast of St. Lucia Carnival 2010 would be charged with selling advertising spots which will be aired during the live broadcast of  Carnival events, a percentage which would go to the CDF.   Anyone (broadcasters) however who wish to broadcast any of the sanctioned CDF events would however have to take their feed (with advertising) from Choice TV and relay this live via their own medium.

Those in attendance who would be affected by this, expressed their disappointment with certain arrangements but also understood the fact that there should be control.

For  Scruffy TV’s part we are not happy with the timing of this arrangement, but can promise everyone that we will be there as long as it is possible to provide live coverage as promised advertising or no advertising.
