Piton Beer Stands Firmly Behind St.Lucia Carnival 2010
Piton Beer in 2010 continues its role as being the gold sponsor of Saint Lucia carnival as well as the most consistent, having played a major role in the event over the past 17 years. This year, Piton beer went beyond the call, initiating its own event Piton Soca Stars into the carnival mix, which was a major success.
The event was won by Mongstar who was presented with his prize cheque of EC$3,000 last week by Piton Brand Manager Germaine Serieux. The singer also won himself a recording with a local producer courtesy Piton Beer. In second place was Ambi and in third place Divabbi.
As the gold sponsors of St. Lucia carnival 2010 on Thursday Piton Beer also presented over two hundred thousand dollars in support for the festival to various entities. Cheques were presented to the organizing body the Cultural Development Foundation, calypso tents, NG Soca Stage, carnival bands and community organizations. Piton Beer this year was again on board with the RCI initiative Piton Party in the Yard as well as some of the major fetes for carnival including Cooler fete, Wet fete and Outrageous Sexy in Black.
According to WLBL’s Marketing Manager Shelley Black, “the long term investment in carnival has been fruitful and we are happy to see the growth of the event throughout the island.”
Piton Beer has never forsaken its role in supporting the various community carnivals and this year has been no different. In Vieux Fort Piton collaborated with the Vieux Fort Carnival Committee (VFCC) as part of its continued support and involvement. The company also sponsored a contestant at the Miss Vieux Fort pageant which was held last Saturday. The contestant, Niser Clarke was the first runner up and also won Miss Congeniality, best talent, miss photogenic and best interview.
According to Germaine Serieux Piton Brand Manger WLBL prides itself on being a leading corporate citizen in the St.Lucian communities it serves and our responsibility to ensure that we maintain our culture and heritage is of great significance to us. We believe that we should do our part to promote only responsible drinking, and join with others to discourage harmful drinking especially for the carnival season.
Piton Beer is wishing all Saint Lucians a happy, fun filled and peaceful carnival as activities unfold this weekend coming to an end on carnival Monday and Tuesday July 19 and 20.
